Privacy at configure8

The data privacy regulatory landscape is complex.  We respect your privacy and want you to understand how and when we collect, use, and share your personal information.  We have prepared this privacy page to help direct you towards the different configure8 privacy policies, terms and agreements that may apply to your interactions with us.  

The particular policy or agreement that applies to you will depend on how you interact with us.  Specifically:  If you are visiting our website or you have a direct relationship with us, please see the Section below titled “Privacy Matters Related to configure8 Website Visitors”.   If you are a company, business or other party that accesses or uses our configure8 Platform, please see the Section below titled “Privacy Matters Related to configure8 Platform”.  We have also prepared a Frequently Asked Question Section below to answer several common questions we typically hear from our visitors and users.  If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about our privacy practices, how we handle your data, or your related rights, please email us at privacy@configure8.io.

A. Privacy Matters Related to configure8 Website Visitors

The configure8 Privacy Policy describes the privacy practices configure8 uses in connection with configure8’s website and marketing activities. It does NOT apply to the privacy practices we employ in connection with the configure8 Platform.  In other words, if you are a company, business or other third party subscribing to the configure8 Platform (or the employees, representatives or other end users of such companies, businesses or third parties), this Privacy Policy does NOT apply to your access to and use of the configure8 Platform.  

As described in the Privacy Policy, individuals from certain U.S. states (California, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah and Virginia) have rights in addition to those described in the main body of the Privacy Policy.  Please see Exhibit A to the Privacy Policy for more information regarding those state-specific rights.  

In particular, certain individuals from these locations may have the right to stop configure8 from selling or sharing their Personal Information (“opt-out”) for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising, including by contacting configure8 via email at privacy@configure8.io or by clicking on the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link at the footer of our website.  

As described in the Privacy Policy, individuals from the European Union and the United Kingdom also have rights in addition to those described in the main body of the Privacy Policy.  Please see Exhibit B to the Privacy Policy for more information regarding the rights conferred by those jurisdictions.

Our Cookie Policy also applies to configure8’s website visitors.

B. Privacy Matters Related to configure8 Platform

Our Data Processing Addendum describes the privacy practices configure8 uses in connection with the configure8 Platform.  If you are a company, business or other third party subscribing to the configure8 Platform (or the employees, representatives or other end users of such companies, businesses or third parties), then our Data Processing Addendum applies to you.

configure8 uses third party subprocessors, such as cloud computing providers and customer support software, to provide the configure8 Platform.  You can view our subprocessors here:  Subprocessor List.   Data Processing Addendum details how we manage and contract with these subprocessors.

Our Data Processing Addendum may be attached to or incorporated into the contract we enter with you or you may be required to execute it separately (e.g. if you agreed to our Terms of Service online). Please contact us at privacy@configure8.io if you have any questions about this process.  For example, if you are a Pro Tier user who has agreed to our Terms of Service, you will need to contact us to execute our Data Processing Addendum.

C. Frequently Asked Questions.

Below are answers to some frequently asked questions.  While we have done our best to summarize and respond to the proposed questions, please note that the actual agreements, terms and policies (e.g. our DPA) contain the exact terms and provisions that apply to these questions and our privacy practices.  Only those agreements, terms and policies are definitive and create the legal obligations of configure8 and its site visitors, prospective customers or Platform customers.

How does configure8 collect personal information in connection with the configure8 Platform?

configure8 has access to any personal data you share with us via email or in a sales or support forum. We also have access to user emails and account information associated with a configure8 Platform account (i.e., emails we receive in relation to a platform subscription, user details, etc.). We can see user login history.

The configure8 Platform and our services are not designed to collect any Sensitive Personal Information (as defined in our DPA) or any personal information of any third parties (other than our customer’s authorized users and customer contacts).  We ask that customers do not share these types of personal information with us.

Does configure8 share your personal information with third parties?

In connection with the services we provide to our customers (i.e. Platform customers), we do not sell or share your personal data and information with 3rd-parties other than as necessary to deliver and provide our services (e.g. to subprocessors). We do not use paying customer data (i.e., data and information about configure8 Platform subscribers) to build lookalike audiences, and we never sell or rent any customer data to third parties.

In connection with our direct marketing practices and website visitors, we may share certain information that is considered personal information in connection with our advertising and marketing practices as more fully described in our Website Privacy Policy.  Under certain state privacy laws, and you have may have the right to opt-out from having your information shared in this way.  Please see our Website Privacy Policy and related “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link for more information on your rights in this situation.
